follow your muse

For our 38th season, the 2016 White Mountains Music Festival takes its inspiration from the muses of Greek mythology.  Each week is centered around one of these ancient ladies of arts and letters, and celebrates her chosen discipline in musical form.  We will encounter poetry, history, tragedy, comedy, rhetoric, and dance through the works of composers ranging from Bach to Gabriela Frank.  It is our hope that along the way you will be moved, intrigued, challenged, delighted, and may even find your own muse in one of these great pieces of music.

Week 1: Poetry - An evening of Latin American Poetry & Song with Frost Place Poetry Center

Week 2: History - A Tribute to Telemann

Week 3: Comedy & Tragedy - Shostakovich & Beethoven, an unlikely partnership

Week 4: Philosophy & Rhetoric

Week 5: A Celebration of Dance

Week 6: A Cross-Genre Collabration with electrifying fiddle duo, K2
